School Strike 4 Climate is back! After a long hiatus due to the Pandemic, there will be a march at noon tomorrow, Friday 9 April, starting at Britomart (aka Te Komititanga) and going up Queen Street to Aotea Square. All generations are invited to join in. If you want to join other folks from the Centre meet on the Britomart steps (Queen St side) at noon.

Earth Day next Sunday 18 April
8:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Centre
We will be celebrating Earth Day with a ceremony and day of sitting, starting with an optional sit outdoors at dawn (at home).  Details may be found here. A sign-up sheet is available at the Centre if you are local, or if out of town, email Sensei to make an appointment for remote dokusan. A Zoom link will be sent to everyone next week.

End of the Financial Year
A warm thanks to all who contributed to the Centre over the past year. We will email tax receipts to everyone before the end of April. NOTE: As we did last year, the receipts will only be sent electronically, as PDFs.

On the  Horizon
A guided walk around Mangere Mountain, Te Pane O Mataoho, will offered after our regular Sunday sitting on 2 May, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Details to follow.

Advance Notice
Book Nights will be held on Zoom in September in conjunction with our Spring Term Intensive. The text will be Mindfully Facing Climate Change by Bhikkhu  Analayo. An expert scholar of early Buddhism as well as a practitioner, Bhikkhu Analayo  draws on the Four Noble Truths and other basic teachings to explore our relationship to the Earth and skilful responses to the climate emergency and the often painful emotions it elicits. The topic will tie in well with the winter Dharma study course, Buddhism by Numbers. The text is available in book form from the usual sources, or as a free PDF download here. If you like to work from a book, order it well in advance as mail delivery slow at the moment.

For details of our practice schedule see our Sittings page or check the AZC CalendarLive-streaming on Mixlr is offered for all formal sittings and talks at the Centre. See here for home-based options.
