Certificate distribution for Taruni students Course completion certificates were awarded to the Taruni students of third batch in Ravalkole village of Medchal, Telangana. The Taruni (adolescent girl) Program imparts essential life skills such as leadership development, digital literacy, and governance and civic knowledge to girls to enable them to become active citizens. The program trained more than 900 girls between December 2018 and October 2019.

Inauguration of renovated primary school under Project Vriddhi in Nuh Strengthening its commitment to build a healthier society and positively impact the lives of people in marginalized communities, Nestlé India, in collaboration with S M Sehgal Foundation, initiated the renovation of a government primary school in village Rohira under Project Vriddhi on October 10, 2019. Senior government officials visit Sehgal Foundation’s work in Chilamathur Lamchonghoi Sweety Changsan, joint secretary, Ministry of Human Resource Development, GoI; the district collector; and other government officials visited the Zila Parishad High School that was renovated under the Transform Lives one school at a time program as well as a check dam site in Chilamathur, Anantapur district, Andhra Pradesh. The check dam, built near the catchment area of Chitravathi River by Sehgal Foundation, enables groundwater augmentation that benefits five villages.

Voter awareness through community radio Community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat FM 107.8 broadcasted a program series promoting voter awareness that was supported by SMART and the Election Commission of India in the wake of assembly elections in Haryana. Five programs focused on voter motivation, electronic voting machines, women’s participation in voting, and provisions by the Election Commission for voters. The series engaged with several first-time voters and served as an interface between citizens and block and district-level election officials.

Be the Change “The best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.” This quote by Mahatma Gandhi found testimony as part of October 2 celebrations across Sehgal Foundation’s project locations. Schoolchildren in district Alwar, Rajasthan, carried out a sensitization drive in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendras that involved saying “no” to single-use plastic and keeping the environment clean. Cleanliness drives were conducted in Mahendragarh in Haryana and Medchal, Telangana, as part of partnership projects.

A life-changing experience: Akshat Singhal Sehgal Foundation’s connection with Akshat Singhal dates back to 2007 when the foundation hosted his internship, which he calls a turning point in his life. Project Gram Utthaan aims for a sustainable and inclusive growth across five villages of Muzaffarpur district in Bihar. The project provides holistic solutions to farm families which includes use of solar energy, mechanization of farming practices, balanced nutrition and crop protection, and entrepreneurship for better livelihoods.
