As Sehgal Foundation celebrates 20 years of work in rural India, the news
media remind us that India is a water-deficient nation. Erratic monsoons, high
temperatures, greater demand for water, and mismanagement of water contribute
to water scarcity.
Sehgal Foundation teams continue work with communities to
conserve water, raise awareness, and influence policies at all levels of
government to bring about greater water security in India.

Message from the Founders at 20 years
|
|
When we established Sehgal Foundation twenty years ago to help village communities in rural India, we did not want to be a “charitable” nongovernmental organization (NGO) but a “development” NGO that is secular and non-political. The vision for the future is fantastic—a vision of ongoing rapid progress and movement for change that will continue to spread from village to village in all directions throughout India.

Transform Lives one school at a time impact in one year: a snapshot
|
|
The total funds raised from April 2018 to March 2019 from US donors amounted to $200,000 and were matched by Dr. Suri and Mrs. Edda Sehgal. The $400,000 was used to transform nine more schools and to implement Varun Myneni’s Water for Life project and Ashwin Sinha’s Worksheets for Water initiative. Funds raised by student, Shreeya Yarlagadda, continue to support Shreeya’s Transform Lives and Digital Literacy project. Approximately 5,000 schoolchildren were impacted by these projects.
As many as 130-million school-age children in government primary schools in rural India still lack the most basic requirements for a nurturing and safe learning environment and the skills training to prepare them for a bright future. Your donation of any amount will be matched 1:1 by Dr. Suri Sehgal and Mrs. Edda Sehgal. Sehgal Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
