When we established Sehgal Foundation twenty years ago to help village communities in rural India, we did not want to be a “charitable” nongovernmental organization (NGO) but a “development” NGO that is secular and non-political. Government Senior Secondary School in Beejwad Naruka, Alwar, Rajasthan renovated under Transform Lives one school at a time was inaugurated by state labour minister, Mr Teeka Ram Juli on June 27 in Alwar, Rajasthan. The event saw participation from village community and members from village-level institutions.

Bhamashah Award

Sehgal Foundation was awarded the state-level Bhamashah recognition by the Government of Rajasthan for contribution to the education sector on June 28. The Chief Minister of Rajasthan presented the awards. Mr Pawan Kumar, director, Agriculture Development and Mr Mahipal, district coordinator, Alwar, Rajasthan, accepted the award on Foundation's behalf.

Constitution of Research Ethics Review Committee 
Sehgal Foundation constituted a Research Ethics Review Committee to ensure the highest ethical standards for the research work done at the foundation. The term of membership is two years. The foundation team is pleased to announce the committee members—Dr Sunil Sharma, Indian Spinal Injuries Center (clinician); Mr Ashim Vachher (lawyer); Ms Sudha Parthasarathy, country representative, ASEAD (social scientist); Dr Usha Rani Ahuja, principal scientist, NIAP-ICAR (basic medical scientist); Mr Mubarik Hussain (community representative); Ms Niti Saxena, director, Development Research and Policy Initiatives; and Dr Pradeep Mehta, director, Research, Monitoring, and Evaluation, Sehgal Foundation.

Celebrations of national days
On the occasion of Environment Day, June 5, Sehgal Foundation team organized village-level awareness drives, and several competitions in schools; and tree plantation activities in nine project villages of district Mahendergarh, Haryana, supported by HDFC Bank. Project Parivartan is an Integrated Village Development project that aims to improve the lives of rural communities with interventions in water, agriculture, and governance.
On International Day of Yoga and World Music Day, June 21, Community radio Alfaz-e-Mewat in Nuh, Haryana, broadcast important messages on how yoga is essential for a healthy well-being, while a local singer performed in the studio singing request songs from the villagers. Digital Literacy students from Transform Lives one school at a time celebrated yoga day with Nehru Yuva Kendra in Alwar, Rajasthan
