Cashflow Forecasting for Existing Businesses

This FREE workshop focuses on cash flow management and its use as a management tool. This training supports businesses in forecasting and evaluating the impact of changes to their cash flows on their financial performance.

This will enable Essex businesses to prepare for different Brexit scenarios, incorporating the “what if” analysis and stress any proposal to its limits. A well-structured financial model can facilitate and improve the reliability and quality of a firm’s decision making.

The workshop will cover the following topics:

1. Generate Business Forecasts and measure their accuracy
2. Understand and interpret cash flows and learn how to improve them
3. Project the balance sheet and profit and loss account based on cash flows
4. Incorporate risk, optimisation and forecasting into business models
5. Produce meaningful management reports and charts for communication

Spruce Up the High Street

23-27 March

   
As part of the Keep Britain Tidy's Great British Spring Clean campaign, Brentwood Borough Council is giving our High Streets a clean from 23-27 March.  We'll be removing fly posting, cleaning and painting street furniture, planting and weeding. 

The Council is looking for a few volunteers to help our Depot staff and Neighbourhood Action Team.  Last year, teams from Tees, the Baytree Centre, Marks & Spencer, Blue Serif and the Brentwood Horticultural Society joined in the tidy up campaign.

Brentwood Business Briefing & Networking Event

After the successful launch of the first Brentwood Business Briefing in September 2019, the event returns on Thursday 30 April. Co-hosted by Brentwood Borough CouncilBrentwood Business Partnership and Brentwood Chamber of Commerce, the event features speakers, exhibitors and networking sessions to make new connections. 


The theme for the April briefing will be 'Digital Marketing' with a focus on new innovations and trends to elevate your business's online profile.  Full details will be published in the next few weeks. 

   
   

Data Analytics Innovation Vouchers

   

The Business and Local Government Data Research Centre (BLGDRC) is inviting small business owners, public sector organisations and local government, including councils, to apply for Data Analytics Innovation Vouchers (DAIV). 

The vouchers can be used to pay for the Centre’s experts to act as consultants to address specific problems or help organisations collect and use data more effectively. DAIVs allow an organisation to receive up to the value of £6000 to work with world-class researchers within the Centre and tap into the collective knowledge of academics working across the Universities of Essex, East Anglia, Kent, and the London School of Economics. 

You can use the voucher to access consultancy from world-class researchers to review your data and improve your analytics, or it can be used to upskill your staff on how to use data to improve services.

Lower Thames Crossing 

Supplementary Consultation 2020

   

The next phase of public consultation on the Lower Thames Crossing has been announced.  The eight-week consultation started on Wednesday 29 January and will end on Wednesday 25 March 2020.  The further consultation will give people the opportunity to look at, and comment on, the changes that have been made to the project's design.

The changes that are being consulted on will be set out in the Guide to Supplementary Consultation, which is available online and in hard copy at events, deposit locations and information points, including Brentwood Library. Responses can be provided using a paper response form, letter, email or using the online response form. There will be 8 public information events and 12 locations visits with their mobile information centre will also be held.
