Three Friends Looking for Sponsors or a

Forever Home!

Handsome Tiki...

Cute pony Mickey...

Meet three friends that are looking for their forever home or homes! While Tiki and Mickey are the best of buddies and need to be adopted together, Godiva is more independent and could be adopted alone.

.

Handsome Tiki came to Equine Voices in the fall of 2016 as an owner surrender.  He taught many children to ride as well provided the experienced rider with an enjoyable trail ride.  Pony Mickey arrived in 2015 after being abandoned at a Phoenix boarding facility by his owners.  Equine Voices was contacted to provide him a home.

Lady Godiva is a Thoroughbred who arrived in late 2016 after being purchased by Equine Voices for just $75 at auction after being seized by Border Patrol at a checkpoint.  The trailer she was riding in was loaded with illegal drugs.

These three live side by side in the main barn, with Mickey taking turns playing with either Tiki or Godiva in the turnout corral.

Won't you consider sponsoring one of these three amigos? Or adopting Tiki and Mickey to brighten your day with their playfulness? Godiva would be a loyal companion should you adopt her!

Q&A on the Dangerous Plan for Wild Horses & Burros

As a horse rescue and sanctuary, Equine Voices opposes wild horse and burro roundups.  We believe that these animals deserve to be free, living out their lives on public lands.  The information that Equine Voices provides to you is merely to inform the public as to what is happening with larger advocacy groups such as American Wild Horse Campaign, Return to Freedom and the Humane Society of the United States.

Please read on for an enlightening Question and Answer Session...

(September 30, 2019)

Q: What happened last week in the Senate?

A: The Senate Appropriations Committee approved $35 million in additional funding to the BLM Wild Horse and Burro Program for implementation of a mass mustang roundup and warehousing plan promoted by the livestock industry, along with the HSUS, ASPCA and Return to Freedom. On September 26, 2019, the Senate Appropriations Committee passed the Interior, Environment and Related Agencies Fiscal Year 2020 Appropriations bill. The bill includes a $53 million increase to the Bureau of Land Management’s (BLM’s), overall budget.

In report language accompanying the bill, the Senate directs that $35 million of that increase be directed to the agency’s wild horse and burro program. The nearly 40% increase to the BLM’s Wild Horse and Burro Program is directed toward accelerated roundups accompanied by “population growth suppression” on wild horses that remain on the range.
