As the summer ends, many Efus member cities are assessing their tourism season. The World Tourism Day organised on 27 September by the World Tourism Organization, the United Nations agency “responsible for the promotion of responsible, sustainable and universally accessible tourism”, is an occasion to recall Efus' stance and recent activities on this topic. As part of the PRoTECT project, Efus and the city of Brasov (RO) organised on 17 July in that city a seminar on “Identifying vulnerabilities and mitigating the risk of terrorist threats in public spaces: Cooperation among all stakeholders”, which gathered some 85 participants from 13 European countries – local and regional authorities, law enforcement agencies, experts, security practitioners and other stakeholders. Efus is participating or co-organising two important European events in October: the European Week of Regions and Cities in Brussels (BE), from 7 to 10 October, in which it will organise a workshop on the security of public spaces, and the European Week of Security in Nice (FR), organised as part of the PACTESUR project from 14 to 18 October, to which it invites all members to take part. The final conference of the Efus-led SOLIDIFY project will be held on 5-6 December 2019 in Lisbon (PT). It will be an occasion to exchange on innovative and human rights-based local policies on drugs, on the specific role of supervised consumption facilities in this regard, and on the political challenges around this issue. (...)



What is polarisation and how to respond to it? The Efus-led Bridge project ("Building resilience to reduce polarisation and growing extremism") developed a toolbox enabling local authorities to identify and examine this phenomenon at local level. (...)

Furthermore, it is issuing a call for projects as part of the Transnational actions on asylum, migration and integration (AMIF) Fund - deadline 30/01/2020

The Cutting Crime Impact (CCI) project has prepared a fact sheet on the prevention of crime through urban design and planning. This type of prevention incorporates evidence-based design, planning and management measures within urban development proposals to prevent crime and reduce feelings of insecurity.
