During its General Assembly meeting held in Augsburg (DE) on 26 June, Efus chose Nice as the host city of its 2020 “Security, Democracy and Cities” conference. A key event in the network's life, the conference will be dedicated to the exchange of practices, experience and knowledge on urban security. (...)




On the occasion of its General Assembly meeting in Augsburg (DE), on 26 June, Efus adopted the Declaration of Augsburg “Free, safe and just cities - a European success story and its future”, which includes recommendations to the EU and MEPs. (...)


As happens every year, the Executive Committee was partially renewed on the occasion of Efus' General Assembly meeting. Presided by the city of Liège (BE), it includes as vice presidents the cities of Amiens (FR), Rotterdam (NL) and Stuttgart (DE), as well as the Government of Catalonia.

The working group on Innovation & Security established in the wake of the Medi@4sec project met on the occasion of Efus' General Assembly meeting, on 26 June in Augsburg (DE). Some 15 participants representing local authorities from various European countries discussed the use of technological/social networks to improve public security, policing and crime prevention. Efus has met with Miguel Pacheco, in charge of sports at the Lisbon City Council, to discuss the involvement of the Portuguese capital in the MATCH-SPORT project against racism and intolerance in amateur sport. (...)




Efus published in the June issue of Préventique magazine an article on PACTESUR signed by the Mayor of Nice (FR), Christian Estrosi. Since January 2019 Efus has participated in this project led by Nice with the objective of strengthening the capacities of cities and local actors to secure urban public spaces against threats, such as terrorism. In the framework of the SOLIDIFY project, representatives from 10 European cities made a two-day study visit in Paris (FR) on local harm reduction policies, on 17-18 June. They notably visited the Paris Supervised Drug Consumption Room (SDCR). (...)



The Cutting Crime Impact (CCI) project, in which Efus is a partner, has produced a fact sheet on predictive policing, which includes case studies from Germany and the Netherlands.
