2020 has kicked off in full swing here at ENC. Firstly, we have been successful in securing funding from MBIE for a new role to stimulate the North Canterbury food and beverage sector.  We are also in the process of applying to the Lottery Significant Projects Fund for a one-off investment towards the off-road cycle trail from central Christchurch to Waipara. This trail is predicted to return around $12.8m into our economy year on year and will benefit the residents, community and businesses socially, recreationally and financially. 

Of course, as businesses – particularly in tourism and exporting – we are all very aware of the current Coronavirus crisis that continues to unfold across the globe. We are keeping up to date with information on this situation and will be sure to provide information to businesses as it comes to hand.

• Community or school project need a funding boost? The MainPower Community Fund is now open! A share of $30,000 is available to community groups and schools serving North Canterbury. • Waimakariri District Council is seeking feedback on the Draft Rangiora Town Centre Strategy released last week. Visit the council website to read the strategy, learn where to find out more, or submit your feedback before March 9th.
