Dear Guest

The Covid-19 crisis has really sharpened everyone's focus on supporting local. ENC is working with our local producers and retailers under the brand of MADE NORTH CANTERBURY to put together a special Christmas hamper to showcase a range of food and beverage products from throughout the region. We encourage you to order one or more for your clients or staff this Christmas, highlighting our diverse food and beverage sector while keeping the money local.

The latest North Canterbury Business Opinion Survey results showed local business confidence has increased from net -59% in May 2020 to net -10% in October. It also showed that while local businesses are still slightly pessimistic about the next six months they have a far higher positive outlook than NZ as a whole which has a net -39% confidence compared with our net -10%. The region has experienced fewer closures, fewer redundancies and more new businesses than was expected when the Covid-19 lockdown started, and 35% of surveyed businesses have even seen their business grow as a result of Covid-19. Take a look at the full survey here.

For those businesses still having difficulties, a reminder that there is some Covid-19 funding still available and we encourage you to apply as needed.

Kind regards,

Heather Warwick, CEO

Local Business News & Updates

  • We're on the hunt for amazing business images! At ENC, part of our role is to promote and celebrate businesses in the area and inspire others to establish their business here in North Canterbury. To do this, we can think of nothing better than using amazing photos of our existing local business community. If you have professional-quality, high-resolution images of your business that you are happy to permit ENC to use in our marketing, please email them to amelia@enterprisenc.co.nz
We will use these on our website and online marketing, and will attribute every photo to your business. We can't wait to see what you've got!

  • ENC Sponsor Ara is inviting North Canterbury businesses to advertise any job opportunities they may have, free of charge, on their online job board: CareerHub. CareerHub opportunities are emailed automatically to relevant students, graduates and staff to alert them and encourage them to apply. Ara is also running daily ‘employer lunchtime sessions’ 12-1pm for employers to come onsite to promote their organisation and opportunities to students. This has proven so popular over the past few weeks that more sessions have been added. The sessions are available at Ara's Madras St campus or their Trades campus - both in Christchurch. To advertise on CareerHub click here. To book an employer lunchtime session email careers@ara.ac.nz.

  • ENC Sponsor Ravenswood has donated a total of $31,000 to Community Wellbeing North Canterbury Trust.
