Dear
The past seven weeks - since we entered Alert Level 4 lockdown - has been immensely challenging for all in the business community. Over 450 businesses have reached out to ENC for support, information and funding. I would like to take a moment to say how proud I am of the entire ENC team for the amazing support that they have provided to all North Canterbury and Kaikoura businesses during this time of need.
One way in which we are assisting businesses is with the ENC Professional Services Grant. We have had a huge uptake and have only 40 grants left to update your cashflow forecast, which we encourage you to apply for. This will help when and if you apply for one or all of the many of the Government's business support initiatives now available including Business Finance Guarantee Scheme, the Small Business Cashflow Loan Scheme, the IRD Loss Carry-back Scheme and flexibility around tax payments.
The reality of Alert Level 2 this Thursday is certainly a needed boost for businesses. Under this, we move from around 75% of businesses able to operate to about 85-90%. While that’s great for many, we’re still mindful of some businesses that will take a while longer to get back business. A crucial difference is that productivity will improve significantly as social distancing restrictions ease up a little. Roll on Thursday!
Kind regards, Heather Warwick, CEO
