Dear Guest

It was encouraging to read the latest Infometrics Quarterly Economic Monitor, released last week, which shows a huge amount of confidence in and support of the Waimakariri economy. The notable increases in the likes of building consents, visitor spend and GDP are no surprise when you see the level of construction going on in the district as well as the success of our own Visit Waimakariri's first visit to TRENZ.

Despite winter setting in, new businesses continue to open and awards are being won all round, showing the quality and tenacity of our local business community. We're also seeing businesses taking the opportunity to upskill their team in the quieter months, with a great uptake of attendees at our business courses and workshopsIn fact, our preeminent course - Accelerator Business Growth Series - is back for another roundgiving you the chance to grow your business and increase profit, with support from BDO professionals. This course is exclusive to ENC and comes highly recommended from past attendees

Kind regards,

Heather Warwick, CEO

ENC Sponsor Profile

This month we are thrilled to welcome The Learning Staircase as our newest Bronze Sponsor. Based in Fernside, The Learning Staircase  designs and retails top quality educational resources for learners of all ages, including adults. Their core programme, StepsWeb, is an online literacy programme currently being used by over 900 NZ schools and a growing number internationally.  We recently caught up with Managing Director Ros Lugg to learn about the world-first test that her and her team have established to assist in the discovery of literacy difficulties in children as young as five.

For some it's the location, for others, the ease of doing business, the sense of community or the amazing work/life balance. Whatever the reason, hundreds of business owners have chosen to set up and operate their businesses in the Waimakariri District. Each month we sit down with a local business owner to find out Why Waimakariri? Check out our first instalment below.

Why Waimakariri: The Girouard Centre

When international weight management experts Dr Jonie and Dr Michael Girouard were looking to open their first New Zealand clinic, they fell for Silverstream. Find out why they (and their clients) love their Waimakariri location.
