The effects of the COVID-19 global pandemic are continuing to be felt throughout every community around the world.

This is most certainly true for the many projects we support across the island of Ireland and here in Australia. The pandemic is devastating, the projects that need our help have seen their income streams all but dried up when they are needed most.

We at The Ireland Funds Australia have also been significantly impacted by COVID as we are not able to hold any in-person fundraising events for the foreseeable future. We are missing bringing so many of us together but we really hope you have enjoyed connecting with everyone virtually via our online Bootcamp, Trivia Nights and Art Workshop.
To continue in that vein, our Young Leaders Flagship event, The Global 5k is going to be held virtually this year. Participants will be able to clock up their 5kms on a course of their choosing, anywhere in the world,  over the weekend of September 19th. Registrations are now open, and we encourage all our supporters, young and old around Australia to run, walk or stroll with us this year!

We were very pleased many of you were able to join our annual Worldwide Ireland Funds Conference which took place virtually on June 26th. It was sobering to hear from some of the projects on the ground in Ireland and how they are being impacted by COVID, but also to hear of the innovative ways they are adapting and rising to the challenges they face. If you would like to see the Conference recording, please contact me

Although our fundraising ability has been significantly affected we remain committed to supporting impactful projects. I am delighted to say that even during this crisis, thanks to our generous supporters, we were able to have a grant round in June of almost $250,000, funding 18 projects both here in Australia and Ireland across our focus areas of peace, culture, education and community development.

Below is a snapshot of some of these impactful projects:

Community Development

Since our inception, The Ireland Funds Australia has supported projects in Northern Ireland. This year, with the help of The Australian Young Leaders, we continued that support to vital projects such as:

These are just some of the projects we supported in our Grant Round, impactful stories showing strength and adversity in even the toughest of times.

Thanks to you, we have done so much, but there is still so much more to do.

The Ireland Funds has never wavered in its commitment and core mission:  to deliver private philanthropic support to worthy causes that promote peace and reconciliation, arts and culture, education and community development. We don’t expect donors to support us over others but rather consider including us in their portfolio of giving. All organisations are committed to their missions and the people we support are relying on us to continue to fight for them and support them, particularly in these extremely difficult times. So it would be remiss of me not to ask anyone that can, at this time, to consider joining or continuing one of our Giving Programmes or to make a one-off donationall of which is tax-deductible.

Please continue to stay healthy and well and look after yourselves and your loved ones in these trying times.

Very best wishes

Teresa Keating

The Ireland Funds Australia

We are thrilled to announce registrations are now open for our annual Global 5km.
