Farewell 2020 and Cheers to 2021

Dear ,

Well 2020 is a year none of us will forget, the prolonged drought followed by the devastating bushfires and then came COVID-19.
All of us had to adapt and we were no exception, putting on a number of virtual events to help us to stay in touch with you, our supporters.

I was absolutely thrilled that even through this tough time, your continued support and generosity meant we were able to donate $250,000 to 18 projects in Ireland and Australia. This is a wonderful achievement; one that really makes a difference and changes lives, thank you.
A snapshot is below and full details of our grant round can be viewed in our Trustee Report and additional information regarding our projects can be viewed here.

I am extremely proud of the work that the Young Leaders have done in such difficult circumstances this year including hosting virtual events and leading the charge for the first ever Remote Global 5k; they are without doubt, some of the most active Young Leaders globallyThe Young Leaders truly are the next generation of philanthropy and are vital to ensuring the longevity of the work of the Fund.

On behalf of our Chairman Yvonne Le Bas, our Board of Directors, Young Leaders and myself I wish you and your family a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. I am looking forward to a quiet and peaceful Christmas, to farewell 2020 and look to 2021 with a renewed appreciation for family, friendships, health and excited for continuing our good work in the new year.

2020 Virtual Fundraising Event

The Ireland Funds Australia held its first ever major Virtual Fundraiser on Friday 13 November 2020. Since March 2020, like every other chapter of The Ireland Funds around the world, we have been unable to host any in-person events, our main way of fundraising to support projects of impact across Ireland and Australia. So, we adapted and decided to hold our very own Virtual Fundraising event.

Young Leaders' Christmas Trivia Night

To bring a bit of Christmas cheer and send off 2020 in style, The Ireland Funds Australian Young Leaders hosted a very special Christmas edition Online Trivia Night, and a great time was had by all! With a selection of Taste Ireland hampers up for grabs, teams raced against the clock to answer questions about Christmas songs, Christmas movies, Christmas food and more!
