EVENTS ACROSS THE GLOBE


Welcome to our May newsletter. We’re pleased to announce some exciting events coming up around the globe. On 17 May, we are co-hosting the China 5th Annual CCUS Forum in Beijing,  followed by our APAC CCS Forum in Brisbane and in early June, our CCS workshop at the World Bank’s Innovate4Climate global event in Singapore and the Japan CCS Forum in Tokyo - an official G20 side event.


Looking back at the last few weeks, the Institute attended the IETA-led European Climate Summit in Lisbon. We also hosted our second Congressional briefing in Washington, and we have a number of other events coming up globally!


Finally, we’re looking for a Senior Consultant CCS Technology to join our team in DC.

INSTITUTE TO HOST OFFICIAL G20 SIDE EVENT IN JAPAN

On June 12, the Institute will host our annual Japan CCS Forum in Tokyo which, this year, is an official side event of the G20. The event will feature presentations from Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) and Ministry of Environment (MOE) as well as OGCI, NET Power, Pale Blue Dot Energy Ltd., Toshiba, Japan CCS Co., Ltd. and more.

NEW STORAGE CLASSIFICATION SYSTEM INCREASES CCS CONFIDENCE

The Storage Resource Management Scheme (SRMS) is the first method to classify storage estimates into overarching categories defined only by commercial value. The Institute’s Senior Consultant – Storage, Chris Consoli, explains further in his new Insight.

FEDERAL POLICY INFLUENCERS SURVEY RESULTS

The Institute recently commissioned a study to improve understanding of support for climate action and clean energy technologies such as CCS. Polling 100 policy influencers, the survey provides insights into perceptions of the US energy transition, including the role of government, and the understanding of CCS technologies. The results are encouraging.

UK BEIS COMMITTEE RELEASES REPORT FOLLOWING ITS INQUIRY ON CCUS


The UK Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy Committee has released its final report which presents its recommendations and findings following its Inquiry on carbon capture, usage and storage (CCUS).

CCS TO FEATURE AT LEADING CLIMATE CONFERENCE

INSTITUTE ATTENDS THE INAUGURAL EUROPEAN CLIMATE SUMMIT  


The Institute attended the inaugural European Climate Summit in Lisbon from 15 to 17 April. 

Eve Tamme, Senior Advisor for International Climate Policy, shared the CCS perspective at the Industrial Decarbonisation session.

WEBINAR RECORDING: POLICY PRIORITIES TO INCENTIVISE LARGE-SCALE DEPLOYMENT OF CCS 


During the webinar, two of the paper's authors provided insights into the key findings of our latest report. The presenters also identified areas where policymakers should focus their efforts in the near-term, and in doing so, derisk investments in CCS projects.
