| | Dear all--
Hope you are enjoying the end of summer! Thanks to those who participated at the Academy of Management meetings in Boston earlier this month. The simulation workshop on Relational Organizing for Multi-Level Systems Change, the Positive Organizational Scholarship Breakfast, and the RCRC/POS Reception were highlights for me. See below for some fun photos! Also here's a shout out to our colleagues at Boston Medical Center and at Boston Children's Hospital who recently received internal grants to pilot their RC change efforts.
As we head into the Fall, we eagerly anticipate the 9th Annual RCRC Roundtable - Designing the Future - The Relational Science of Intentional Change. Do sign up below if you haven't already. Each year the Roundtable attracts researchers and practitioners who are committed to transforming relationships for high performance. We will meet for two days in Denver, CO (October 11-12) with presentations about cutting edge work in a variety of sectors such as healthcare, education, community safety and private industry, in the face of growing inequality and deepening crises. Keynote speakers Christi Zuber, human-centered designer and David Sloan Wilson, evolutionary biologist will show us how relational coordination contributes to the process of human centered design and to the broader process of collective evolution. The Roundtable also features workshops where participants will gain experience using tools that they can take home, and we conclude with a panel discussion among leaders who will share their experiences leading RC change efforts. Not to mention fun welcoming activities led by our Denver host committee on the first afternoon and a welcoming reception on the first night!
This is a once a year opportunity to connect with your colleagues in person and immerse yourself in relational coordination whether for the first time or after many years of participation. We hope you will join us!

| | | RCRC Roundtable & Training | | | The Roundtable is an extraordinary event with participants who are engaged in research and practice in a variety of sectors - it truly is special in terms of opportunities to learn and share with others using relational coordination. Our keynote speakers - evolutionary biologist David Sloan Wilson and human centered designer Christi Zuber - will share their perspectives on the relational science of intentional change.
This topic could not be more timely given the urgent coordination challenges that we face locally and globally, and the need for a relational response that recognizes our growing interdependence. So please join us October 11 and 12 in Denver to develop the tools and vision to meet these challenges together!
| "Can we get better at creating positive change intentionally, as individuals, organizations, communities, institutions, and countries, through mindful attention to the consequences of our actions? How can we embrace unintended consequences that add value, and better anticipate those that destroy value? To do so is likely to require approaches - such as human-centered design, systems thinking, collective action, and relational coordination - that are inclusive and mindful of interdependence." | | Stay after the Roundtable for Improving Work Processes with Relational Coordination: Integrating the RC Survey into Interventions on October 13-14. This advanced workshop will help you learn how to use the Relational Coordination (RC) Survey in interventions to improve work processes and collaboration across the continuum from small colocated work groups to virtual teams to whole organizations and inter-organizational consortia. If you are an organizational leader or an internal or external consultant and want to take your understanding of RC to a higher level, we invite you to join us. This program will also help you prepare for the RC Certification.
Visit the RCRC website for 2019 Roundtable registration, travel details and more information about presentations, RC tool workshops and training opportunities.
| | | | | | | We are sad to see Tanya Allain leaving the RCRC at the end of August after years of excellent contributions to building the RCRC community. As our Director of Partner Relations and Communications she expanded the partner community and pioneered many new communications tools. In her place we will be looking to fill two new roles - one is simply not enough to encompass all the work she did given the growth in the RCRC community. Please join us in thanking Tanya for her many contributions and in wishing her well at this exciting time in her life!
| | | | | | Congratulations to RCRC partners who presented at the Academy of Management! We had a wonderful time at the RCRC and Positive Relationships at Work Microcommunity Reception - and at the simulation workshop on Relational Organizing for Multi-Level Systems Change! | | Note: Health systems who are organizational partners of the RCRC are being invited to join a Health Systems Learning Network for a focused dialogue facilitated by advanced RC practitioners.
Please welcome our newest partners: - Debbie Sigesmund, Ontario Veterinary College, University of Guelph, Canada
- Carrie Crownover, Veterans Administration, USA
- Mark Kabban, Harvard Graduate School of Education, USA

Our congratulations to Heather Gilmartin, Lynn Snow and Christine Hartmann for being invited to give an RC workshop at the 2019 VA HSR&D/QUERI National Conference.
