Welcome to the CFS Family, Braswell Family Farms!

Braswell Family Farms recently implemented CFS's egg industry specific inventory management solution. Braswell is now receiving, labeling, tracking inventory and fulfilling orders with the CFS R8e application.

In the receiving operation the team has been impressed with how easy it was to begin using the scan guns, and how responsive they are. The palletizing operators were using the hand guns after a five minute tutorial and are very happy to no longer have to write everything down. The warehouse inventory and orders are all visible on computer screens as well as hand guns, which has made order fulfillment much more efficient and easier for all involved.

We at CFS are thrilled to be working with the great people at Braswell Family Farms, and look forward to a long lasting partnership!

CFS Security Updates

Maintaining secure applications is a team effort. Computerway Food Systems has increased security measures on ALL of our applications to help you secure your company data. To take advantage of the additional safeguards, several updates are required. These updates include:

  • Upgrading the Computerway Operating System to RedHat7 SE Linux
  • Upgrading to Progress version OE11.7
  • Transitioning from HTTP to HTTPS for Computerway web-based applications
  • Improving network and server configurations using SSH and SFTP

CFS customers with current maintenance contracts are eligible to receive new application versions. All Computerway customers will need to upgrade by fall 2020 which is the End-of-Development date for all applications running on Progress version OE11.3 and earlier.

For more information or to schedule your upgrade, contact your CFS Project Manager.

2D Barcodes

Computerway Food Systems has been seeking feedback on an industry wide issue involving case labels and customer specific barcode requirements. In order to take a proactive approach to mitigate barcode labeling issues, CFS proposes a universal solution utilizing 2D barcodes.

2D barcode scanning technology uses patterns, shapes and dots to encrypt information and have the ability to hold 2,000 characters or more. 2D imagers have the ability to read damaged or poorly printed barcodes from any angle reducing time spent reading bad barcodes and boosting overall productivity.

If you are interested in learning more about CFS’s 2D barcode proposal, please contact CFS Sales. We look forward to receiving your feedback!

VRT Inventory Tracking

VRT systems are efficient for rapid chilling or freezing of poultry products, but they are notoriously problematic with regards to location accuracy. Most VRT users don't know what's inside until products are discharged. CFS's VRT inventory control system, using NEW ACS technology, solves the VRT inventory dilemma.

Last month one of our NC poultry customers implemented a CFS solution to track their finished goods inventory in their VRT freezer. This solution allows our customers to more efficiently fill orders, reducing product loss and leading to greater customer satisfaction, which ultimately increases the bottom line.

The VRT Inventory Tracking module is a component of our Computerway R8 Inventory Control system which allows our customers to view their VRT inventory in real-time. This is one more way that CFS helps companies efficiently and safely process food!
